Bunk Bed Prep

One of the projects for this Saturday's work day is to assemble 8 new bunk beds for the cabins! We were at capacity last year with girl's camp so it's going to be great to have 16 additional beds available! Jason and Mike are working on cutting and prepping everything so assembly will be a breeze on Saturday!

Toilets Are In, Grout is Complete!

We're making some serious progress on the completion of the bathhouse. All the tile is laid and grouted, including the baseboard around the bottom of the wall. That was a lot of work :) It's a several step process that I've found very enlightening.

1. mud and lay down backerboard to create as much of a level surface as possible
2. mud and lay tile on top of the backerboard with spacers and allow to dry.
3. grout in between tile
4. wipe clean numerous times
5. lay baseboard tile along wall with some white substance that I can't remember the name of
6. allow to dry
7. grout baseboard
8. wipe clean numerous times
9. the last step is to seal the grout so that it keeps out as much dirt as possible and doesn't crack.
10. wipe clean and look at finished product!

So it's been an intense experience but we are almost finished...we're to step 9!

Also, the sinks and countertops were completed on the second side of the bathhouse. Not to mention all the plumbing necessary to make sure those drained properly and were connected up everywhere they needed to be! Sinks are ready to go!

Finally, Jason set the toilets in and started working on the plumbing underneath to make sure everything works correctly! We have one stall that is regular width and one that is ADA compliant that means the bathhouse will now be accessible to the disabled.

Praise the Lord for His continued provision for materials and finances and labor to complete this project!

Easter Sunrise Service

Thank you to all who attended the Easter Sunrise Service at Coldstream this year! At least 85 people were in attendance to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior!

Mr. Goodman opened the morning with an explanation of sunrise service, how it began and why we were gathered there Sunday morning.

Jon Burkeen, the camp's Caretaker, brought the Word, reminding us to remember Christ's words. To live in the present and to long for Jesus.

The entire morning was a precious time of fellowship, encouragement and tenderness towards the unbelievable sacrifice Christ made for each and every one of us. All the way down to the decorations, we were reminded that Jesus is the Lamb of God, that His brow was pierced for our iniquities and that He is the light of the world. We walked away with a renewed perspective of grace and thankfulness for our salvation and for what Jesus endured so that we may spend eternity with Him!

Praise the Lord, HE IS RISEN!

Sinks are in!

This weekend so much was accomplished in the bathhouse...tile was laid as a baseboard around the floor to help with easy cleanup as well as scuffs on the bottom of the floor...it was hard work, but totally worth it -- after it's all cleaned up it'll look amazing!

We are starting to see the beautiful details come together. Enjoy the below pictures. Jon and Jason put the counter tops on the wall, cut the holes for the sinks, dropped them in and then installed the hardware...soo gorgeous!

This is the counter top pattern

Deep bowl sinks...

with tall silver hardware.

Three sinks to each counter top! Outlets on either side of the 6 foot mirrors!

We'll be finished before we know it! Thanks again to everyone who has donated time, resources, equipment or materials -- God is blessing this project!

New Member of the Family

CCC has a new member of the family...the mule! We are now taking name submissions :) haha, only joking, but we are excited to announce that Coldstream was blessed by a great purchase with this piece of equipment. Jon, the Caretaker, and Jason, the Projects Director, are so thankful for this tool to help them haul, clean up and transport items from job site to job site. So if you see them having a little too much fun this summer driving around camp in the soon to be named mule, you'll know why!

Praise the Lord for His continued blessing and provision at Coldstream -- He's even in the small details!

Mirrors & Grout

The bathhouse really started to show some "close to completion" progress this week, it's amazing to see how everything is coming together. First, we grouted the tile on the left side, it's a beautiful tan/dark brown color and it brings the colors of everything together...take a look at the finished product!

Also, we finished tiling the right side so that will be ready to grout next weekend as well. I was honored to lay down the last piece!

Finally, we hung the mirrors in the both bathrooms....aren't they GORGEOUS!!! Thanks for being a part of this with us -- the bathhouses are going to be such a great updated edition to CCC!

Eden Community Church Work Group

This past weekend, Jon Burkeen's brother, Jody Burkeen, brought six men from his church, Eden Community Church, to the camp to help with some projects! Among helping with the tile, the men installed new windows:

These windows are amazing, they are permanently frosted and are energy efficient! A detail that brings the bathhouse one more step to completion!

They also helped with the plumbing and underside of what will now be Mr. Joe's office:

Thanks so much for your help guys, what a blessing it was to serve beside you!
