Gazebo Updates

Good news, the railings on the gazebo are halfway completed! Mr. Joe, Jason and Ernie Lemons worked on putting the rails and handles up last weekend. The rest of the supplies are on order -- we'll post completed pictures when it's finished, but for now, some gorgeous views of the beautiful memorial in the fall leaves, overlooking the lake. Isn't God good?

Grace Baptist Work/Retreat Weekend

Grace Baptist Church in Pleasant View, TN had a unique weekend out at Coldstream the first weekend in November. Beginning Friday evening, couples and families stayed on the property in preparation for a retreat AND a work weekend. Awesome concept to serve and be served!

Saturday morning started with a marriage seminar on Ephesians 5 with follow-up discussion time. In the afternoon session, the group came back together to serve! The men worked on creating a more consistent, unified look in the interior of our main building, Denson Hall. Bead board was added underneath the chair rail to help the wooden, rustic look from the original building carry over into the addition. What a difference this made!! Check out the pictures and decide for yourself!

The women and girls did some deep cleaning in the kitchen, the storage closet and the cabins. After a long season of camps and having the camp full each and every week this was an added blessing!

After lunch everyone was challenged by a lesson in obedience by Ephesians 6. Youth were challenged in obedience to their parents and parents in obedience to teach their children the Word of God. Family group sessions followed and everyone commented that it was a real blessing to be here working and also for their families to be challenged and strengthened.

If your church, Sunday School class, small group or men's or women's group would be interested in a similar "Serve and be Served" family weekend at Coldstream please contact the camp office at 615 696 2208 or jewel@coldstreamchristiancamp.org. We are thrilled to be a vessel of God's work in the lives of families in the great Tennessee area!

Barn Project is Underway

At Coldstream, we never stop! The Lord has been so faithful in growing us significantly over the past year that we are in need of and able to start new projects! Next on the list is the barn. If you've been in the barn before you know it's a dusty place filled with critters! Last summer the barn floor was cemented and we were able to use it for more indoor games and game tables during camps. This year, we're taking it a step further! The goal is to have a 2 story activity barn. The main floor will have game tables, lounging areas and a snack bar where we can have canteen during camp and sell Coldstream memorabilia! Upstairs, we'll have an open space with tables and chairs for games, crafts, small group discussions, etc. So how do we make all this happen with an old tobacco barn???

First, Mr. Joe, Mike, Jon, Jason and Jerry have stripped the barn down to its frame. They are supporting the structure to make sure it can support two floors in the end. Additionally, they have framed in & installed beautiful new doors and windows to allow as much natural air flow and light as possible! The next step is to put red tin on the outside of the barn! We'll track the progress with you on here so keep watching to see what's happening at Coldstream!!! Here's a couple pictures thus far!

If you'd like to donate time, materials or finances to this project please contact the camp office at 615 696 2208! Thanks as always for your prayers and support of Coldstream -- God is doing a mighty work here!

Summer Camps are Complete!!

Hello Everyone! Thank you so much for your prayers and support over the last two weeks...camps were a huge success!! We had 42 girl campers and 30 boy campers -- six girls rededicated their lives, there were also three first time salvations, and one salvation during boys camp!

The Lord was definitely present...we experienced wonderful weather, were blessed by amazing volunteers and dug into the Word each night with a children's curriculum written by John Piper. It was such a joy to serve during this time at Coldstream.

We will be updating the website with pictures very soon so please check back to see some of the week's activities!

Also please know that there are opportunities still available to sponsor children, due to the economy we had a good amount of children that came trusting God to provide their scholarships! And we are trusting that He lay it on your hearts to fill that need. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

New Fence

If you've ever had to chase your basketball or kickball down the hill, into the ravine or even all the way to the lake, you know how important it is to have a good fence by the athletic courts! The existing fence was definitely beginning to show some wear and tear and honestly, was becoming an eye sore. The solution? A brand new, black chain link fence!! This fence will stand the test of time, keep balls from rolling down the hill and allow visitors of the camp to see what's behind it as well. Thanking the Lord for Mike, Jon and Jason that worked to install this fence last weekend!

Camp Sponsorships

Summer Youth Camps are just around the corner here at Coldstream Christian Camp...

Girls Camp is July 6-10
Boys Camp is July 13-17

The theme this year is "Hidden Treasures"...each day campers will be learning about a parable Jesus told and then they will be digging into it to find the "hidden treasure" that applies to their lives. Please be praying for their eyes and ears and hearts to be opened to Jesus because there will be plenty of opportunities to share the gospel with the way the curriculum is designed and we are excited to see what the Lord is going to do in these kids lives!

Finally, we'd like to extend an invitation for you to sponsor a child to attend camp this year. Due to the economy we are having a significant amount of applications coming in requesting sponsorships. We do not want to turn any children away so please pray over and consider sponsoring a child for a week of camp. It's not too late for girls or boys week. You can contact Kelly in the Coldstream office at 615 6962208, or email Jewel, at coldstreamchristiancamp@gmail.com to sponsor a child for only $120 for an entire week of camp.

Thank you for your love and dedication to the ministry Coldstream has. We are growing by leaps and bounds and we are praising the Lord for your role in that!

Bathhouse Deck/Steps

The bathhouse deck ended up having to be raised about a foot so Jon and Jason took off the deck, raised it up to make it level and attached it again. The next weekend they poured concrete to lay the footers so it was secure and set and finally, this last week, the steps were complete!! The bathhouse is ready just in time for camp!!! Everything is coming together!

Soon to come, pics of finished steps!

Counselor Training This Weekend

The 2009 Women's Counseling Staff of Coldstream Christian Camp will be in training this weekend. Please pray for the leaders to provide the tools and wisdom necessary to the counselors. Also please pray for the counselors to bond together and grow together in Christ first and foremost, secondly, that they will feel prepared and informed and ready to tackle a week of camp in July! Thank you for your prayers, Coldstream would not exist if it were not for the prayers, dedication and financial support of you! Praise be to God for His constant and abundant provisions!

Wood working

Jason finished the side entrance to Mr. Joe's office by building a new "deck" and the last woodworking project on the bathhouse is to tackle the front porch...his goal for the weekend is to a) figure out the best route and b) complete what he can! Hopefully, this front porch will allow each access to campers and make the building ADA compliant as well!

Bathhouse Renovation COMPLETE!

What a time to celebrate! This week, the bathhouse is complete and is open for use! Over the weekend last minute paint touch-ups were completed, a couple plumbing leaks were fixed and the entire facility was given a good scrubbing to clean it up and get it ready to use! We are thanking the Lord for His provision during this project, the funds, the labor, the knowledge and the materials! He has been so faithful, it's been a long project, but it's been worth it! Praise the Lord for a job well done! Enjoy some of the pictures :)

This is an angle so you can see the showers and the counter top and sinks

From here you can see the floor and shower stalls (with dressing areas!) which leads us to the...

Toilets, which sit next to the shower...as you can see when we add the appropriate hardware the one on the left will be ADA compliant!

The windows have also been trimmed out and are of great quality for privacy!

Toilets Are In, Grout is Complete!

We're making some serious progress on the completion of the bathhouse. All the tile is laid and grouted, including the baseboard around the bottom of the wall. That was a lot of work :) It's a several step process that I've found very enlightening.

1. mud and lay down backerboard to create as much of a level surface as possible
2. mud and lay tile on top of the backerboard with spacers and allow to dry.
3. grout in between tile
4. wipe clean numerous times
5. lay baseboard tile along wall with some white substance that I can't remember the name of
6. allow to dry
7. grout baseboard
8. wipe clean numerous times
9. the last step is to seal the grout so that it keeps out as much dirt as possible and doesn't crack.
10. wipe clean and look at finished product!

So it's been an intense experience but we are almost finished...we're to step 9!

Also, the sinks and countertops were completed on the second side of the bathhouse. Not to mention all the plumbing necessary to make sure those drained properly and were connected up everywhere they needed to be! Sinks are ready to go!

Finally, Jason set the toilets in and started working on the plumbing underneath to make sure everything works correctly! We have one stall that is regular width and one that is ADA compliant that means the bathhouse will now be accessible to the disabled.

Praise the Lord for His continued provision for materials and finances and labor to complete this project!
